Buchstaben über der Stadt

When revisiting Berlin for the first time recently (after we left the city just over three-and-a-half years ago), my eyes were constantly drawn to letters. Old GDR-style fonts, neon letters from bygone eras... but also typography in a more modern style. Was it a coincidence then, that during our stay, I was persistently ‘bugged’ by a particularly relevant earworm: the song ‘Was den Himmel erhellt’ by German band Tomte, to which I hadn’t listened for years and which features the line 'Buchstaben über der Stadt' ('letters above the city') time and again. This could only mean one thing: I just had to create a small photo series with the same title.
